Garage Sale Update! First: Thank you for all of the donations! Second: this Sunday the 12th will be the last day to bring clothes donations. Third: next Sunday 19th is the last day for any donations. We have specific places for things to go - please contact MelissaandKent Leigh or Kurt if you have questions. Once again thank you for the support of our youth! They are extremely excited to go on this LIFE trip!

(Read Mark 4:10-12, 33-34) PARABLE In the Greek language, the word for parable (parabole) means: “a placing beside, with a view for comparison”. When Jesus utilized parables, like the four recorded throughout Mark 4, he used language that was familiar to his audience in order to reveal truth about the Kingdom of God. This is why his parables were so beautifully profound, yet in the same vein were understandable to his listeners. After Jesus tells the parable of the sower (v. 3-9), the Twelve and others find Jesus alone and begin to ask him about the meaning of the parable. Jesus’ response was shocking: “The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables so that, ‘they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding, otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!’” (v. 11-12) Was Jesus saying that he doesn’t want outsiders to understand the secret of the kingdom of God? Absolutely not! Jesus knew that there were going to be those who would listen to his parables with the sole intention of hearing a story, while “whoever has ears to hear” (v. 9) would hear the parable and make every effort to understand its meaning. Jesus’ parables aren’t illustrations; they’re more like a doorway. In order to walk through the door, one must have the Key. In order to understand the parable, you need the Key: Jesus. So as we continue in our journey through the Gospel of Mark, allow Jesus to unlock the beauty found in his parables and within the entirety of Scripture. The imagery is never the point; Jesus is.

We have some LOUD kids!

Here are the teens doing a dance to "Same God" by Tye Tribbett on Wednesday. We had over 100 kids last night and it went really well. We wrap up tonight from 6-7:30pm at Word of Life Church. Keep praying!

Here's a video from our VBS last night. The quality isn't that good but you get a bit of a taste of what's going on. We had about 75 kids last night! If you have some time the rest of the week, we'd love to have you stop by Word of Life Church on Fowler between 6-7:30pm to check it out.
